CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Visitors to an historic South Carolina plantation are getting a behind-the-scenes look at the plantation house and efforts to preserve it.
Drayton Hall near Charleston begins its Preservation Tech tours on Saturday.
Drayton Hall is introducing the tours in honor of National Preservation Month in May. The tours are being held the first Saturday of each month.
Visitors can explore the house examining construction details, architectural elements and preservation efforts through the years.
Drayton Hall on the Ashley River dates to 1738 and is one of a handful of homes built before the Revolutionary War that remains close to its original condition.
