So far the public is very confused as to what the Occupy Wall Street [OWS] and its satellite movements are actually protesting.

In San Antonio, the Occupy San Antonio [OSA] leader was asked by a reporter what his message was. He told the reporter, “right now our message is vague.” When the reporter questioned members of OSA, few would even answer. When someone finally made a statement, other members immediately started a heated argument with that person. In Manhattan, many photos show signs for an extremely broad range of causes. Causes range from Palestinian statehood to gay marriage. There is also the fact that dozens of organizations are trying to co-opt OWS for themselves. This includes the Barack Obama re-election campaign.

There is also a dark side of the OWS movement. One OWS protester was photographed defacating on a police car. Other photos have emerged of masked protesters deliberating trying to pick fights with police.

Then there are the youtube clips of extreme statements by the “Occupy” organizers. The Occupy DC leader can be seen on youtube telling a contributor to Russian Television that the US government should have rights over our bodies. One OWS protester is seen screaming profanity and racially charged insults at white people.

However, nothing is more bizarre than the behavior of Occupy Atlanta [OA]. As seen on youtube, members of OA refer to each other as “blocks.” Whenever one person says something, everyone else is supposed to repeat it. Words cannot describe how creepy their behavior is. You have to see it for yourself.

So far Occupy Charleston [OC] has allied with the black racial lobby NAACP. Local NAACP head Dot Scott and OC are advertising an event at Charleston’s NAACP headquarters Friday October 14th. The meeting is billed as an effort to “acquaint Charleston’s African American activist community with the occupy movement.”

The Occupy Charleston website identifies the group as being opposed to the Federal Reserve. Other “occupy” groups have either said they don’t oppose the Federal Reserve, or they are in favor of it. Micheal Moore made an appearance at OWS and stated that he was not opposed to the Federal Reserve bank.

Radio talk show host Alex Jones has recently launched “Occupy the Fed” in Texas. He bills this movement as an alternative to the statist leaning OWS. His movement is dedicated solely to attacking the Federal Reserve Bank. Jones wants everyone to know that the bank is not Federal, has no reserves, and is not really a bank. It is a privately owned corporation. The names of its shareholders are a secret. The president and congress are not allowed to see its records. Currently there is a major effort amoung Republicans and some House Democrats to audit the Federal Reserve Bank. Senate Democrats blocked the effort in last year’s session and new bills have been re-introduced this year.

Corporatism has become a buzzword in the occupy movement. Many say they are against it. However, at the same time we see groups and signs promoting the re-election of Obama at these demonstrations. Even the New Year Times has attacked Obama for his blatant corporatism. To say you want to end corporatism and re-elect Obama seems like a huge disconnect.

If OC can put forth a unified message about corporatism, without promoting corporatist politicians at the same time, then maybe it will gain real traction. They would even find support among TEA Party activists. Otherwise, it will just be more confusing street theater.
