harleston, SC - Explore the magical underwater world with your child at the South Carolina Aquarium. The first exhibit just for the South Carolina Aquarium’s youngest visitors, Toddler Cove opens February 1, 2011.

The wonders of the ocean come to life in Toddler Cove, the new exhibit dedicated to children ages 1-6. Children will be greeted by life-sized aquatic play structures in the shape of a canoe, whale tail and turtle. Tiny tots can crawl through a giant fish into the Great Barrier Reef room filled with colorful coral and unique fish like the lionfish, tang and everyone’s favorite, the clownfish. They can explore the shapes and colors of different marine life through interactives and games hanging on the walls. Toddlers will become immersed in the exhibit after walking in, with stingrays soaring overhead, a beautiful water themed mobile hanging from the ceiling, as well as a beach area where children can learn about trash and how it harms the environment, the first step in inspiring a life-long love of the ocean. Moms and dads will also be able to take a break and keep an eye on their little ones while they play; as seating is located in the heart of the exhibit.

Children Will:
• Play on life-size aquatic structures in the shape of a whale tail, turtle and canoe
• Crawl through a giant fish into their very own viewing area
• Marvel at brightly colorful fish including the lionfish, clownfish and royal tang
• Put together puzzles to learn about marine life and shapes

• Relax on the soft carpet floor
• Start to develop a life-long love of our amazing oceans!
