CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Charleston has put its horse patrol mounts out to pasture because of city budget cuts.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the city has ended the program that once included six mounted officers.
The city is now using officers on bicycles, motorcycles and battery-powered scooters. Officials say the alternatives are cheaper and easier on the city budget.
